Background information

I have experience of working in a range of settings including the NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, a Mental Health Secure Unit for Adults, Education, Community and Voluntary Sector work and with people that have learning disabilities or profound disability.  I have experience of working with individuals with a range of differing needs including adults and young people experiencing emotional difficulties and mental health issues, individuals experiencing anxiety or low mood, people that are experiencing loss and grief or older people with dementia.

My approach

I use a person-centred approach and have a sound understanding of facilitating work with both groups and individuals experiencing a range of difficult and painful life experiences over short and long term therapy.  A safe, boundaried and holding environment is created where a sense of trust is paramount and where feelings can be expressed in a supportive space.  I adopt a diverse range of artistic methods appropriate to the individual such as the use of stories, ritual, imagery and symbols, sand trays, movement and music to connect with people and to create a safe space for expression, healing and change.

The creativemotion approach aspires to

  • Create a safe space to explore and express feelings
  • Build trusting relationships through a shared experience
  • Explore creative skills, work with the imagination, story and play
  • Awaken the body through movement
  • Develop interaction and communication skills
  • Create opportunities to build self-esteem and confidence
  • Promote mental health and wellbeing
