Dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is a recognised form of psychological therapy that fosters the use of the arts in the therapeutic relationship. It provides a process that enables both groups and individuals to explore life experiences through the use of a diverse range of creative approaches promoting opportunities for healing and change.

Dramatherapy facilitates opportunities to explore and express difficult issues by using creative methods such as story making and enactment, ritual, movement and play.  These provide a safe distance from the experience, which enables individuals to explore their past experiences and express themselves in a way that may feel easier than directly talking about it.

Dramatherapists register with the Health Professions Council and regularly use clinical supervision to explore practice and to ensure that standards as a dramatherapy practitioner are upheld.  Further information about Dramatherapy can be obtained from the British Association of Dramatherapists website www.badth.org.uk
